Christian Wachsberger

    Christian Wachsberger has over 33 years’ experience in Defence, serving predominantly as an Experimental Scientist for the Defence Science and Technology Group, specialising in gun systems and rocket propulsion technologies. He has considerable knowledge and experience in conventional and novel gun system technologies, and foreign armaments, the management of explosives safety, and has undertaken research and technical evaluations of directed energy weapons technologies (e.g. high energy lasers). He served as Project Science and Technology Adviser for various weapons projects including Land 91-6 and Land 40 2, and was the DST Lethality SME for projects Land 125-3C and Land 400-2. He headed Land Weapon Technologies Group in Weapons and Combat Systems Division, and served as the Australian representative to the NATO Army Armaments Group – Dismounted Soldier Systems. Chris is highly skilled in gun ballistics, solving weapon and ammunition problems, leading and working with teams and evaluating technical risk.
