
Dr Christine Scala is a distinguished scientist with a high level of achievement throughout her forty-year career. She has strong capabilities in scientific strategic planning and review, is a specialist in advanced materials science, and is an internationally-recognised research expert in non-destructive evaluation.
As a Research Leader in Maritime Division, DSTO (now DST Group), Christine led a large multi-disciplinary branch, delivering innovative scientific developments in advanced materials and sensor systems. Her research programs strongly leveraged off linkages she established with universities and industry, and resulted in significant technology advances impacting across air, maritime and land domains. Following retirement from Public Service, she established Christine Scala Management Pty. Ltd., a successful strategic scientific consulting business.
Christine has been a member of government and academic scientific advisory committees at both a national and international level. She is author or co-author of well over 100 publications, has been a keynote speaker at international conferences on advanced materials, and on editorial committees for international journals in non-destructive evaluation.
